[edit] Introduction

This is probably one of those projects that will never reach completion... but it is an old idea that I hope to bring at least to the point of a prototype.

I have a Philips Pronto universal remote control. It's getting old and none of the remotes in the Pronto series are capable of what I think they should be. I want my remote to be able to generate IR codes by scripting, I want it to be able to dynamically update elements on the screen. I want more or less a slimmed down version of HTML running on it, but maintain all the functionality and ease of use that made me fall in love with the Philips Pronto. And I want it to be open source.

[edit] Hardware

I found these nice ARM equipped boards on eBay. They are dirt cheap and feature a colour LCD touch panel of appropriate size. Since I didn't have a COM port on my computer, which is required to program these boards, I began drawing a chassis for the boards. This is where it's at, at the moment.

I will begin construction of the chassis shortly, using a Roland MDX-40A CNC - starting off with an MDF prototype.
