I Sydsvenskan kan man läsa att polisen pratar om brottsrubriceringen förberedelse till grov stöld. I vårt inlägg igår skrev vi att polisen tog två stycken nyckelmaskiner. Om det är dessa två nyckelmaskiner som polisen har i åtanke när de pratar om förberedelse till grov stöld så vi vill vi gärna kommentera det nedan.
Det finns ingenting olagligt med att ha nyckelkopieringsmaskiner, det är fullt lagligt att göra kopior på sina nycklar. Det beslagtogs även en del dyrkar. Dyrkar som används för att lära sig hur man dyrkar lås. I somras arrangerade Forskningsavdelningen Hacknight, som var en föreläsningskväll, där hölls ett seminarium handlade just om hur man dyrkar lås. Det var väldigt många deltagare som fann det högst intressant att veta hur lås fungerar.
Vi tycker att det är bra att folk lär sig hur teknik i sin vardag fungerar, inte minst säkerhetsrelaterad teknik och teknik relaterad till personlig säkerhet, det är ett av våra huvudsakliga mål med verksamheten. Att undersöka, lära oss, och föra vidare kunskap om vardagsteknik. Hur lås fungerar är ett väldigt spännande ämne och tusentals människor runt om i världen har det som hobby att lära sig mer om lås och lära sig dyrka dom.
Holländska Toool (The Open Organization Of Lockpickers) har en text (på engelska) om just låsdyrkning, varför det är kul och spännande och varför det inte är speciellt effektivt för exempelvis inbrott. Det finns många liknande, högt ansedda, låsdyrkningsorganisationer runtom i världen.
What happened?
At 20.45 on Saturday the 28th of November the police raided the social centre Utkanten in Malmö, where the hackerspace Forskningsavdelningen is housed. Twenty officers in full riot gear and ski masks broke into the space through the entrance and a backdoor, using crowbars. Shortly thereafter twenty to thirty more showed up, mostly dressed as civilians and some of them IT technicians from Länskriminalen (county police), who are suspected to be interested in the hackerspace. They stayed in the building for about six hours.
The official reason for the raid was to do a “pub check” because of the suspicion that there was illegal selling of alcohol going on. The allegedly illegal club activity was a punk concert, with about 40 guests at the time of the raid. After the raid the cops evacuated the building, searched through it and confiscated a lot of stuff. The police was indiscriminate as to whose effects were removed, taking a lot of equipment from Forskningsavdelningen and peoples personal computers, even though the hackerspace was unaffiliated with the group arranging the concert downstairs.
At the time of the raid there were about five people at Forskningsavdelningen. All of us were searched and photographed. Those who criticized the harrasment were threatened to be taken to the station for “drug tests”. Overall the police seemed hostile.
What did they take?
We have gone through our stuff and made a list of what is definitely missing, but since the cops havent given us a list of what they’ve taken we might have missed some stuff.

- 1 external 2.5″ hard drive
- 2 key cutters
- lock-picking practice locks (cut-away)

- 1 pocket calculator (casio)
- 5 bottles of rum (Bacardi)
- blank keys, to a value of 200 SEK (not more?)
- material for building metal lockpicks
- metal files
- 1 backpack
We need your support!
We all feel really offended by this and some of the confiscated equipment is going to be hard to replace. If you want to help us there are some things you can do:
- Publish an open letter of support and send us the link
- We’re gonna need to replace some equipment. If you have any of the following stuff and want to donate it, please bring it on tuesday or send us a mail.
- any “modern” pc to use as an office computer, we’re gonna need a couple of them (we still have two or three monitors and, plz, no CRT’s
- some kind of wifi router
- Do fun stuff with us, we’re gonna meet on tuesday as always. Come and help us make the place even better than it was before the raid and bring fun stuff to play with

It is common in Sweden that the police never return computers once they have been raided. If they give it back, it will usually at least take some years, the computers will be old by then. If you want to support us finacially you can donate money to a swedish account or a paypal one. All donated money will go to replacing the lost personal and collective hardware.

The Abbenay hacklab [1] opened early this month in Stockholm [2], where a
housing crisis is at full blow.
We are set up in a place that was squatted downtown by Kommando Carl Bildt
since late August, called AK4. The house was empty since June, and there was
no plans to use it until one year and a half.
Unfortunately, squats are very unusual in Sweden, and the discussions with the
landlord and the city of Stockholm are extremely difficult, even though many
newspapers speak positively about AK4. The place currently sets a record for
the country, with a life time of one month (and counting) while most squats
usually get raided by the police in a few days.
We are however facing an imminent eviction threat and police pressure has been
significantly increasing lately – with civil cops coming very often to take
pictures of the house and sirens waking us up early in the morning.
This call is asking you to contact the landlord to show support to the hacklab
and the squat. So far, he has been very closed minded. He only proposed that
we leave the place and talked about an expensive and abusive rental contract.
It was about a much smaller office, and according to which we would not be
allowed to sleep in the premises, we would not be allowed to host concerts,
cafes or parties, etc.
The landlord is Fredrik Winberg; he is the CEO of Cementa AB [3], part of
HeidelbergCement Global with a revenue of 15 billion euros per year. He also
runs the Biteam AB company [4].
We do not believe that he or any of his fellows will turn poor should we
definitely get the house in Stockholm, and we think that his behavior is
basically motivated by the capitalist idea that the right to stay somewhere
must always be paid for.
We hereby ask you to contact him to expose your views on squatting and
hackerspaces in order to give him a more comprehensive view on the subject
than what he could have had as a capitalist entrepreneur. His contact email is

We do not give a “copy and paste” email to send him, since mail bombing would
probably not be effective and only increase tensions. Also, please do not be
